Online Ordering
SHOPPING HINTS: For most shopping needs we recommend using our shopping categories on the left side of your screen. Each main category has several layers of sub categories that will help you easily and quickly narrow your search. Click on “N Scale Trains” for example and you will now see several sub categories below that main heading. Select the one that is most like what you are looking for. Example: click on “N Scale Freight Cars” - you will now see a listing of all the makers of N Scale freight cars that we currently have in stock. Click on the one that has what you are looking for and you will now see a listing of car styles that that manufacturer makes. It may seem complex and cumbersome at first but once you are familiar with the system you will find it a quick and easy way to shop.
At each category there will be a complete listing of all the products listed in the sub categories under that heading. You are welcome to browse through these but we recommend filtering down as far as possible as most of the main categories have many pages and hundreds or even thousands of items.
PAYPAL CUSTOMERS: When you complete your transaction at PayPal you must click on "Continue Checkout," at this point your order will be submitted back to Online Trains and you will see an order acknowledgement page. This acknowledgement will include your order total and order number.
SEARCH FUNCTION: The search button is great when looking for specific items and road names. It does have limitations though and will only look through the information that is available. We recommend using our shopping categories when possible. The search function is great if you want all the listings of a particular road name or locomotive type. For broader searches are shopping categories will more accurately filter the products.
GENERAL: You can shop online using our shopping cart system. Simply use the add one or buy now buttons to put items in to your cart. You can easily view your cart at any time during your shopping experience by clicking the view cart button. You can see what you have ordered and remove items if you chose too. Once you have the items you want and are ready to place your order, click the checkout button.
Again here, confirm the items you have ordered. You will be asked to provide your shipping and billing information for the credit card you wish to use. Once you are satisfied all the information is correct click on the continue button.
Now you must select the type of shipping you prefer. We are currently offering free US shipping for all orders over $50.00. Just click on the USPS Priority Mail option. If your order is under $50.00 a $6.50 flat rate fee will be added to your order before shipping. Now click on your method of payment. We are currently accepting Visa, Mastercard and Paypal. Once you have all the information entered click continue.
Here you will be required to fill in your sensitive payment information via our secure server which uses the latest SSL encryption technology. Once you have confirmed all the information is correct you can click continue. This will complete the ordering process.
Now you will see a copy of your invoice including your order number. Please print or write this information down for your records. You will also receive an email copy of this invoice.
We will now process your order. Your credit card is not charged until your order is ready to ship. This is usually 1-2 business days.
International Orders:
DUE TO THE ADDITIONAL TIME AND EXPENSE
REQUIRED TO PROCESS ORDERS OUTSIDE THE USA,
WE HAVE HAD TO ESTABLISH A MINIMUM ORDER

$100.00 WILL BE CANCELLED. All International orders will be shipped via USPS
Priority International insured for the actual amount of the contents. Please place your order normally using our secure online shopping cart. Once we receive your order it will be prepared and weighed. We will then email you the actual shipping costs. This may take 1-3 business days. Once you have approved the shipping charges your order will be processed and shipped.
IF WE DO NOT RECEIVE APPROVAL WITHIN 5
DAYS, YOUR ORDER WILL BE CANCELLED. When providing your customer information, please be sure we have a valid phone number. We may require additional information in some cases. We reserve the right to refuse any order we feel is suspicious.

Back Orders:
We have greatly increased our store inventory and should be able to fill your order 100%. In the unlikely event an item is temporarily out of stock, we will ship all in stock items with a note on the approximate delay for the missing items. Usually this will be 7-10 days. If it is going to be longer than that or the item(s) are no longer available we will contact you via email. Back orders always receive free shipping and we NEVER charge your credit card until your items are ready to ship.
Returns:
Our number one goal is your complete satisfaction with the products you purchase from Online Trains. You may return new, unopened items to us for up to 30 days for a full refund. Please include a copy of your invoice and a note as to whether you would like store credit or a refund to your charge card or Paypal account. Sorry, we can only refund your return shipping charges for defective items or order errors made on our part.
NOTE: Special order items not usually stocked by Online Trains may not be returned unless they are defective.
Advance Reservations:
We will be accepting and encouraging advance reservations on many limited run items. This is an important way for you to insure you get the products you want before they sell out. We only take reservations on items for which we have firm orders with our distributors. We will not take advance reservations on speculation. Again, we do not charge your credit card until the items are ready to ship to you.
