This 40’ drop bottom gondola with side extension and wood chip load is painted black with white lettering. It was built in September 1937 by Pressed Steel Car Co., serviced in June 1973, and runs on Bettendorf trucks. Northern Pacific’s series 52000-52749 GS drop bottom gondolas were built and then later fitted with height extensions to provide a low-cost chip car, creating the series 118500-118540. The conversion created woodchip cars with a cubic capacity to 3968 cubic feet.
